eDGe Centre

The Edge Centre was opened in 2023 and now houses several pre-existing and new support services which are available to the community. For our current activity schedule click here

The Edge Centre aims to be a place where people come and find a friendly environment where they feel welcome and accepted but maybe more importantly, helped and supported.

What you will find at the eDGe Centre

Community Involvement

The Northgate ward of Darlington is rated as one of the most deprived in England. The consequences of such deprivation can be feelings of  loneliness, isolation and separation.

Restoring a sense of community is vital in countering this trend

Mental Health Support

We believe that we are not meant to live life on our own. Being able to share with others, to give and to receive, to talk as well as listen and to come alongside others individually and in community is vital to our physical and mental well-being

Addiction Recovery

Turning to other activities that help us escape our situation, dull our pain or alleviate our feelings of resentment or inadequacy is a common response but the addiction that can stem from this can be very destructive to ourselves and to others

Families and Children

Children are a great blessing and their education and well-being is vital as they grow up in today's society.

As parents we are battling to provide for them, while keeping our own head above  water and looking after our own well-being

Andy's Story

A few years ago I walked into The Edge Centre to attend Think for Yourself. I was a cocaine user, in trouble with the police and in need of Help. What I did not know then, was that my poor mental health was making the problem worse.

The people at Think for Yourself came alongside me and worked with me to navigate a recovery journey.

A journey which has included counselling to get my head straight, money advice to resolve my debt issues, volunteering which led to full employment and advice that resulted in me being drug free.
